Kathleen Dunn Jacobs is a multidisciplinary artist who draws inspiration from nature, creating work that reflects her connection to the natural landscape. Her work is in response to the pressing environmental issues brought on by climate change alongside the ever-accelerating demands of our modern high-tech society.

Whether from the natural or the assembled landscape, all of Jacobs’ work continually explores our fluctuating state of perception. Jacobs’ paintings, created from direct observation through immersive outdoor painting of the landscape, blend essential tonal palettes to capture and evoke the stillness and stripped-down composition of the landscape to convey a sense of peace and place. Finding meaning in the distillation of the natural world, Jacobs’ color palettes, brushwork and structure invoke a sturdy, strengthened landscape in her paintings. Her paintings serve as a visual testament to nature's enduring ability to inspire stillness and balance amid environmental and cultural upheaval.

Continuing her work with compositional arrangement of form, Jacobs painted-wood landscape objects repurpose milled wood shapes to find the givenness of the seemingly random. She assembles these found materials into re-constructed shapes to explore the interplay between form, light and space, drawing inspiration directly from her environment. Through the process of using limitations of both material and color, she provokes a visual narrative that, like her paintings, evokes a sort of poetic resonance of form.
